    Information overload

The main issue with collecting data is being overwhelmed by all the measurements. Not only do you have to spend time programming a data logger, but you also have to babysit the logger to make sure it continues to function without interruption. We set out to solve all of these problems and more with the EM60 series data loggers.

Measures up more than ever before

Because the EM60 is plug and play, it’s a lot easier to use. Especially since it self-recognizes what’s plugged into each port, creating an even more integrated system that does everything for you. Since this data logger is fully automated, it saves you time. Because it’s simple to set up, it saves you legwork.

High-tech that takes no time at all

We updated the EM60 with the goal of speeding up data collection. We added GPS so it automatically keeps track of where data is collected. Integrated barometric pressure and temperature eliminate the need to install extra sensors.

    Setup made simple

With the EM60, you just tell the data logger how often to read. It collects and stores data at a selected interval, and because everything is plug and play there’s less wiring and programming to worry about, making measurements extremely easy to take.

    Outlasts in addition to outperforming

The best data logger is the consistent kind. We’ve added significant improvements like an integrated solar charging panel, so there’s hardly any power maintenance required. The EM60 uses rechargeable nickel-metal hydride (NiMH)batteries and a built-in solar panel for extended deployments.  Pull the battery tab to power on the logger and the NiMH batteries will charge automatically. Unlike our standard Em50 and Em50G, these self-contained data-loggers are built to power, read, and log data from six sensors. The logger case is rated NEMA 4, IP55 for long-term outdoor use.

The data logger that goes the distance

Rely on the EM60 for an advanced combination of simple setup capabilities and a durable design that will save you time and reduce your workload and worry.

Plug in sensors, start logging data

The Em50 is a self-contained data logger built to power, read, and log data from five sensors. All METER sensors work with the Em50; no programming is necessary.

    No accessories required

The Em50 doesn’t need an enclosure or an external power source. The logger case itself is rated NEMA 4, IP55 for long-term outdoor use, and the logger will run (and power its sensors) for one to three years, depending on your measurement interval, on 5 AA batteries. For extended battery life try the Em50 Solar, which uses 5 AA NiMH batteries and a built-in solar panel.

    Simple setup

The Em50 has 5 sensor ports and one communication port. Rather than having a screen and a keyboard, the Em50 is configured by plugging a laptop into the comm port. The included ECH2O Utility software provides setup windows which name the logger, set the logger clock, select the type of sensor on each port, and specify how often you want the sensors read.

    Stores 36,000 data scans

The Em50 can store more than 36,000 data scans. A scan includes the logger name, date, time, and measurements from each of the five ports.

Download data even from remote locations

You always want to know what’s going on at your research site.  But figuring out how to communicate with your data logger is typically complicated and expensive.  The Em50G lets you check in on your data logger from virtually anywhere in the world.  The Em50G is a self-contained data logger built to power, read, and log data from five sensors. Logged data are transmitted from the logger to METER’s server via internal cellular/mobile communication.  All METER sensors work with the Em50G with the exception of ATMOS 41, and no programming is necessary.

    How it works

The standard Em50G uses an internal cell modem to automatically send data to an internet server four to six times a day (contact METER for more frequent data delivery options). The stored data are available for you to access, monitor, and download at any time.

Is my site in a coverage area?

METER has over 120 cellular/mobile GSM partners all over the world.  To check and see if your site is covered, contact METER or your local representative with your site’s latitude and longitude.  If you’re still not sure, you can demo an Em50G from METER and take it to your site to double check.

Plug in sensors, start logging data

The Em50G powers, reads, and logs data from five sensors. All METER sensors work with the Em50G, with the exception of ATMOS 41, and no programming is necessary.

    Ready to go

The Em50G generally takes about 20 minutes to set up. It is both self-enclosed and self-powered. The logger case is rated NEMA 4X, IP45 for long-term outdoor use, and the logger will run (and power its sensors and the cell modem) for about six months on five AA batteries. For extended battery life try the Em50G Solar, which uses five AA NiMH batteries and a built-in solar panel.

    Simple setup

The Em50G has five sensor ports and one communication (download) port. Rather than having a screen and a keyboard, the Em50G is configured by plugging a laptop into its comm port. ECH2O Utility software (included) provides setup windows which name the logger, set the logger clock, select the type of sensor on each port, and specify how often you want the sensors read.

    Easy connectivity check

See signal strength and connection quality in real time as you pick the best spot for your data logger. This feature lets you test connectivity at your measurement site BEFORE you install the logger.

    Data safeguards

Transmitted data is backed up in the data logger memory to give you an extra layer of data protection. A “confirm data transfer” protocol makes sure data transmission is correct and complete.

    Stores 36,000 data scans

The Em50G stores over 36,000 data scans. A scan includes the date, time, and measurements from each of the five ports.

  • Description

    Low cost analog mini-logger

The Em5b is a low cost, limited use five-channel mini-logger. It powers and reads the EC-5, GS1, and 10HS soil moisture sensors, the ECRN-50 and ECRN-100 rain gauges, and the ECT temperature sensor.

Designed for use over the growing season, the Em5b runs for 5-6 months on 4 AAA-size alkaline batteries and has 46 kB of flash data memory (138 days at 1 scan/hour).

The Em5b comes with ECH2O Utility software for setting up and downloading data.

    Advantages

    • Cost. The Em5b allows you to add inexpensive peripheral sites to a study.
    • Perfect for a season’s worth of basic soil moisture data.

    Limitations

    • Limited weatherproofing. Needs to be protected from the elements.
    • Not optimized for frequent data downloads. Port 1 must be unplugged before downloading data; case closures can be cumbersome.
    • Only reads analog sensors (listed above).

One data logger. No limits.

Uncomplicated. Almost unbreakable. And unbelievable.

All-in-one plus one

The ATMOS 41 weather station is a simple, compact, connected device with the flexibility to do more than weather measurements. That is why we call it an all-in-one plus one, or two, or three…
