    The SK20 uses ceramic cups made from Al203 sintered material which allows sampling and analysis for nitrate and common organic and inorganic substances.

    Applications

    • Continuous/discontinuous extraction
    • Nitrate, chloride, sulphate, calcium, sodium, ammonium, phosphate

    Benefits

    • Very low dead volume
    • Shaft and cup exchangeable
    • pH range of 4 to 9

    Auger kits for pore water samplers and tensiometer

    The cutting edge of the auger has a tapered tip similar to the shape of a Tensiometer or pore water sampler.  Thus, the bore hole is large enough to insert the shaft, but the cup will have a tight and perfect fit to the soil.

    The not recommendable slurrying of the cup with quartz clay can be avoided.

    A divisible auger set includes:

    • Cutting edge with tapered tip
    • Handle with hammering head

    Parts have threaded connection and can be extended with one or more 100 cm extension rods.

    The SPE20 contains a specialized membrane specifically designed for tough applications such as sampling heavy metals and where porous ceramics are inappropriate.

    Applications

    • For detection of herbicide, pesticide, and heavy metals

    Benefits

    • Only materials with sample contact are nylon and polyethylene

     Limits

    • Bubble point is 100 kPa, but the porous PE cover allows water to flow only up to 20 kPa

    The SIC uses a specially designed Silicon Carbide (SiC) cup instead of a ceramic one.  SiC is sintered at 2500 °C and is chemically much more passive than ceramic or borosilicate. The bubble point is 90 kPa.

SKS20/SPES20/SIC20 Suction Cups with Shaft Storage

  • Description

    The SKS20/SPES20/SICS20 allows for water and solute collection down to depths of 8 meters that could not normally be collected from other pore water samplers.  Available with all three sampling cup materials (Al203 Ceramic, Polyethylene Membrane, and Silicon Carbide).

    Applications

    Thanks to its unique design, the SKS20/SPES20/SICS20 collects the sampled solutions and stores them inside of the shaft, where they can later be collected by applying pressure to push the sampled solution up to a sampling bottle at the surface.  At these depths, water cannot be collected by applying suction because of cavitation.

    Benefits

    • Cost effective; sampling bottles are not needed
    • Extracted soil water is stored at soil temperature

    Limits

    • Chemical suitability limited to the chosen suction cup material
