    Epoxy body withstands tough field conditions

    Stainless steel needles for easy installation

    Two stainless steel needles cut through the soil for better soil-sensor contact and easier installation. Needles are also much more durable than our standard sensor blades.

    Full water content range

    The GS1 is sensitive across the entire water content range. It can be installed in dry desert soils or in very wet peat. Sensitive to small changes in water content anywhere from 0 – 100% VWC.

    70 MHz frequency capacitance technology

    This frequency minimizes salinity and textural effects, making the GS1 accurate in most soil or soilless media. Can be used in a variety of conditions with the factory calibration.

    Plug and log with METER data loggers

    Install the GS1, plug it in to the EM50, set the measurement intervals, and start logging data. No programming required.

    Database and graph measurements

    Use this sensor with DataTrac 3 to quickly and easily store, access, and compare soil water content data from a large installation.

    Compatible with many other loggers

    The GS1 accepts a wide range of input voltages and has an easy-to-read voltage output. Voltage correlates to soil water content through a simple linear relationship, making this sensor easy to integrate into a wide variety of non-METER loggers.

    The GS3 soil moisture, temperature, and EC sensor is built with an epoxy body and stainless steel needles. The internal circuitry is the same cutting edge design that you’ll find in other METER soil moisture sensors, but the form factor has been optimized for use in soilless substrates or harsh environments, giving it a wider range of EC measurement and an increased temperature range. Not only do the steel needles improve sensor contact, but they also improve the sensor’s ability to measure EC in porous substrates such as peat or perlite.

    Accuracy at a fraction of the cost

    The GS3 measures water content, temperature, and EC independently. Its 70 MHz frequency minimizes salinity and textural effects, making it accurate in most soil or soilless media. Stainless steel needles have an extended surface area to optimize EC measurements, while minimizing substrate disturbance during insertion. Temperature is measured with an onboard thermistor, and electrical conductivity is measured using a stainless steel electrode array.

    The MAS-1 4-20 milliamp sensor is the first current-based sensor to use METER’s trademark 70 MHz technology. This sensor offers a standard 4-20 milliamp output that is common with PLCs and irrigation controllers.  With the 4-20 mA interface, cable lengths over 250 feet are possible.

    Research grade accuracy

    The MAS-1 determines volumetric water content (VWC ) by measuring the dielectric constant of the media using capacitance/frequency domain technology. The sensor uses a 70 MHz frequency,  which minimizes salinity and textural effects, making the MAS-1 accurate in almost any soil or soil-less media. Factory calibrations are included for mineral soils, potting soils, and rockwool.
