SDI-12 example programs

METER recommends the use of Campbell Scientific data loggers in SDI-12 systems. Campbell loggers are robust and reliable, but they are NOT a plug and play system.

Don’t expect to download a sample program, plug in a variety of sensors, and have the system work. Programming a logger to operate an SDI-12 system is a complex endeavor. Without experience programming a data logger, expect to spend significant time learning, OR hire someone to write the program.

Campbell Scientific offers courses in programming and offers a program writing service.  Check out their offerings here. Feel free to contact their support staff with questions.  In some cases, Campbell Scientific programmers lack experience working with dielectric soil moisture sensors. If Campbell Scientific is unable to offer programming support, contact us. We’ve contracted with Cobos Testing Labs, a small local consulting firm, to write specialty Campbell logger programs specifically for METER soil moisture sensors. The following example programs are only a starting point. For the best results, download the program, install a single sensor, test and troubleshoot, then proceed step by step to build the program and system. Do not change more than one variable at a time, or it will be very difficult to troubleshoot the system.
