Soil temperature is a critical parameter for understanding the whole energy balance. It’s often used in surface energy balance models and predictions. If you need a simple, accurate way to make soil temperature measurements in the soil profile and monitor those measurements remotely, the TEROS 06 is your go-to, all-in-one solution.

More accurate than other sensors

The research-grade TEROS 06 accurately measures and records soil temperature over time at six depths exceeding WMO recommendations. It contains digital sensors at -5 cm, -10 cm, -20 cm, -30 cm, -50 cm, -100 cm. And, unlike other profile probes on the market, every TEROS 06 sensor is individually calibrated for the highest possible accuracy (±0.1°C).

TEROS 06 has a small diameter of 20 mm to minimize soil disturbance, plus it was specifically engineered to eliminate heat transfer. The fiberglass-reinforced plastic body has a very low thermal conductivity, so there is no temperature carryover between profile layers. Stainless steel rings ensure excellent heat conductance from the soil to the sensor, so you know you’re only measuring soil temperature at a precise location.

Insanely simple setup

We designed the TEROS 06 to be incredibly easy to install. Just auger a hole with the specially-made auger, and insert the probe. Then, plug the sensor into your ZL6 logger and start collecting data. It’s that easy. The logger auto-recognizes the TEROS 06 for simplified setup and configuration. The TEROS 06 also works with non-METER loggers.
